The BYD Xia M9 is positioned as a mid-to-large MPV, featuring the Huaxia Dragon Face design language and electric sliding doors with concealed tracks. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,045 mm and a turning radius of just 5.7 meters.

The BYD M9 adopts the latest “Huaxia Dragon Face” design language. The front fascia sports a large air intake grille with an offset dragon-scale armor pattern, paired with connected headlights that provide strong recognition when illuminated. The side profile is defined by sleek lines, with a waistline extending from front to rear, creating a layered and dynamic look. At the rear, a “3D Chinese Knot”-inspired full-width taillight cluster is complemented by a large roof spoiler. This combination enhances the sporty appeal while emphasizing technological sophistication and luxury. Four exterior color options are available: Distant Mountain Green, Jian Kiln Purple, Moist Jade White, and Mystic Black.

Interior

Inside, the M9’s cabin design features clean, straight lines for a minimalist yet refined aesthetic. The dashboard integrates three large screens: a fully digital instrument cluster, a large floating central touchscreen, and a passenger-side entertainment display. Top trims also add rear LCD screens with three-screen multimedia linkage. This multi-screen setup not only boosts the technological atmosphere but also caters to diverse passenger entertainment needs.

Powertrain

Standard across the lineup is the Yun Nian-C intelligent damping body control system and BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology. The powertrain combines a 1.5T engine with an electric motor, delivering a maximum engine output of 115 kW and a maximum motor output of 200 kW. Two pure-electric range options are available: 100 km and 180 km. With a full tank and a fully charged battery, the combined range reaches up to 1,060 km, while gasoline-only consumption is rated at 5.3 L/100 km (NEDC).

Seating and Features

The Xia adopts a 2+2+3 three-row, seven-seat layout. Up front, it offers a 15.6-inch floating central control screen, a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen, and a 15.6-inch overhead central display. Additional features include wireless phone charging, dual cup holders, and a storage compartment beneath the island console.

Available in four trims, all models come equipped with the DiPilot 100 “Divine Eye” 5R12V advanced driver assistance system, supporting functions such as highway pilot and full-scenario intelligent parking. The flagship trim debuts BYD’s proprietary DiSound audio system, with 28 speakers, 32 independent channels, and Hi-Fi headrest speakers. The third-row subwoofer can even detach as a 170W outdoor Bluetooth speaker.

Standard comfort features include seat heating, ventilation, and 4-way power lumbar support. The 100 km version adds driver seat massage, 50W wireless phone charging, and a dual-temperature cooler/warmer. The 180 km version upgrades to zero-gravity second-row seats with 10-point massage and memory functions.

Safety

The BYD Xia is engineered to meet both the latest C-NCAP five-star safety standard and the C-IASI “Excellent” dual rating. It uses a PHEV-specific ultra-high-strength safety cage body, with 79% of the bare structure made from high-strength steel and aluminum alloy. Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, 10 collision sensors, and over 10 active safety systems, providing comprehensive protection for all occupants.
