2026 Tank 400 Exterior

The new Tank 400 adopts a larger front grille while retaining the dual chrome trim design. The headlights remain identical to the current model, but the front bumper has been redesigned for a wider, more robust appearance. A lidar unit has also been added to the roof.

From the side, the vehicle maintains its rugged silhouette, featuring muscular fender flares with rivet accents and new blacked-out alloy wheels. The dimensions are 4,964 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. At the rear, new blue auxiliary driving lights are added, and the bumper design now complements the updated front fascia. The external spare tire mount adopts a cleaner, more integrated aesthetic.

Inside, the cabin features a new large square floating infotainment display. Following the adoption of a column-mounted gear selector, the lower dashboard has been completely redesigned. It now includes dual ventilated wireless charging pads and more metallic-finished off-road control buttons. A climate-controlled storage compartment has been added within the front center armrest. While the panoramic sunroof has been discontinued, a retractable overhead display is now available, and the rear air vent screens have been optimized for improved performance.

Powertrain and Platforms

The updated Tank 400 lineup now includes the Hi4-Z variant. The Hi4-T and Hi4-Z represent two distinct platforms with different focuses:

• Hi4-T targets extreme off-road performance, featuring a non-disconnected ladder-frame chassis and mechanical 4WD for hardcore off-road driving.

• Hi4-Z aligns with Great Wall’s “General Off-Road” classification, intended for vehicles offering partial terrain adaptability. It features four-wheel drive and a single differential lock—providing much greater off-road capability than typical urban SUVs, though without the mechanical 4WD systems of traditional off-roaders.

The Hi4-T has a curb weight of 2,770 kg, while the Hi4-Z weighs 2,950 kg. Both models are available with gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The PHEV combines a 2.0T engine with an electric motor, delivering a maximum engine output of 185 kW. The electric motor is expected to retain its 120 kW rating, matching the current setup, for a combined system output of 300 kW.
