Cold-rolled silicon steel is divided into two types: grain-unoriented and grain-oriented. Usually, grain-non-oriented cold rolling is used as the core of motors or welding transformers, etc.; grain-oriented cold rolling is used as the core of power transformers, pulse transformers, magnetic amplifiers, etc.

Features

The (110) plane of its crystal is parallel to the plane of the steel strip, and the easily magnetized <001> axis is parallel to the rolling direction. The silicon content of grain-oriented silicon steel is about 3%, and the steel is required to have low oxide inclusion content and must contain some kind of inhibitor (MnS, A1N). The magnetism of grain-oriented silicon steel has strong directionality, with the lowest iron loss value in the rolling direction, the highest magnetic permeability and high magnetic induction value under a certain magnetizing field.

Availability

The most widely used oriented silicon steel is mostly supplied in the form of coils, and its surface is coated with an insulating layer to generate tensile stress in the base steel strip, thereby further reducing the iron loss value. The cold-rolled strip has a smooth surface, good punching performance and high core filling factor.

Preparation method

Grain-oriented silicon steel is smelted in an oxygen converter. The steel billet undergoes hot rolling, normalization, cold rolling, intermediate annealing and secondary cold rolling to the finished thickness, and then undergoes decarburization annealing and high-temperature annealing, and is finally coated with an insulating layer.

Production Process

Grain-oriented silicon steel: ore—iron-making—steelmaking—continuous casting slab—hot rolling—pickling–primary rolling—primary annealing—secondary rolling- –Secondary annealing–cold rolling—insulating coating—stretch annealing—cold rolled silicon steel (oriented electrical steel)—finishing and rolling—packaging of finished products.
