Ferro Silicon 65

Ferrosilicon 65, or ferro silicon 65%, is a brand that everyone is familiar with. Ferrosilicon is widely used in steel industry, foundry industry and other industrial production.

Ferrosilicon 65 manufacturing process

Raw materials for the production of Fesi 65: coke, iron ore, silica.

The ferrosilicon 65 manufacturing process requires raw materials: the purity of silica SiO2 is above 97.5%. The surface is free of sand, dust or other impurities.

Size range is between 80-140mm.

The fixed carbon of coke is not less than 82%, the particle size is 8-18mm, the moisture is less than 16%, the volatile matter is less than 8%, and the ash content is less than 8%.

The main chemical equation of the ferrosilicon 65% manufacturing process is SiO2+C=Si+CO.

The entire reaction process includes four parts:

1. Disproportionation reaction of SiO.

2. The form of silicon carbide.

3. Chemical decomposition of silicon carbide, molecular formula SiO2(L)+2SiC(S)=3Si(L)+2CO(g).

4. Liquid CO2 reacts with SiC to generate silicon, SiO₂ gas, and CO gas. The formula is 3SiO2(L)+2SiC(S)=Si(L)+2CO(g)+4SiO(g).

The main equipment of the Fesi65 manufacturing process is electric arc furnace.

Si content should be adjusted according to the amount of raw materials added. After the conventional manufacturing process is completed, another process is often required. That’s refining. Used to remove harmful elements such as aluminum, calcium, and carbon.

Ferrosilicon 65 Uses

We mentioned earlier that 65% ferrosilicon comes in three shapes. Many times, different sizes of ferrosilicon are used in different places.

65% ferrosilicon blocks are easily used as deoxidizers in steel plants.
Ferrosilicon 65 grains are easily used as ferrosilicon inoculants.
Ferrosilicon powder can be used as a flotation agent for a variety of minerals. The welding material uses atomized iron silicon powder.
