Uses of ferrosilicon 72:

(1) Ferrosilicon 72 is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.

(2) Ferrosilicon 72 is used as an inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry. In the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon 72 is an important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and spheroidizing agent.

(3) Ferrosilicon 72 is used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen high, but high-silicon ferrosilicon has a very low carbon content. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the ferroalloy industry to produce low-carbon ferroalloys.

(4) Ferrosilicon 72 is often used in the high-temperature smelting process of magnesium metal in the magnesium smelting process. The magnesium in CaO·MgO is replaced, and approximately 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon are consumed per ton of metallic magnesium. The production of magnesium metal plays an important role.
