In production, the recovery rate of tungsten can reach 99%.

There are other ways to produce ferrotungsten. 80% use top-opening electric furnaces, which can be moved on the channel and the upper part of the furnace body is removable. Pure tungsten ore, pitch coke, slag-making materials, and other raw materials are mixed and smelted, then the furnace is pulled out, the upper part of the furnace is removed, the molten iron is condensed, and finally, the blocks are broken into small pieces, and the defective tungsten ferro can be recycled into the melt.

There is a method called the thermite method to produce ferrotungsten, which uses the heat energy generated when tungsten carbide and aluminum are burned, which can save a lot of electricity. Compared with pure tungsten ore raw materials, tungsten carbide contains fewer impurities.
