Floating Fish Feed Pellet Production Line

Mikim Machinery specializes in designing and manufacturing fish feed production lines for large-scale aquaculture, feed processing enterprises, and aquaculture cooperatives. Click below to inquire about your customized fish feed production line.

Floating Fish Feed Pellet Production Line Brief Introduction

The floating fish feed pellet production line combines raw materials such as corn flour, soybean meal, fish meal, and meat and bone meal according to a specific formula, then adds water to adjust the moisture content to an optimal level of 15–20%. The mixture is then extruded into pellets using a twin-screw extruder at high temperature and pressure (120–150°C), achieving a starch gelatinization rate of over 95%. The pellet density can be adjusted to produce either floating or sinking feed. The process involves multi-stage drying (reducing the moisture content to 8–10%), oil spraying and flavoring (with an oil content not exceeding 12%), and cooling and screening (to remove debris), thereby ensuring the hygiene and safety of the feed.

Features of Mikim Machinery Fish Feed Pellet Production Line

Modular line that can be flexibly adjusted to meet production capacity requirements.
The Mikim fish feed extruder line achieves a 99% floating rate and an ultra-fine particle size of 0.3 mm, increasing customer farming efficiency.
Customized solutions are available, such as switching between floating and sinking feed (simply by changing the mold) and production capacity expansion modules (supporting parallel machine groups).
Compatibility: Supports 12 types of raw material ratios, including fish meal, soybean meal, and meat and bone meal, with oil addition rates up to 12%.

Mixer:

The mixer is used to mix raw materials such as corn flour, soybean meal, and fish meal, to add water and adhesives, and to ensure the uniformity of the mixture.

Wet Twin Screw Puffing Machine:

We use a steam conditioner to preheat the material to 90–100 °C. Then, we apply high temperature and pressure to gelatinize the starch and denature the proteins, resulting in thorough cooking. The counter-rotating twin screws generate high shear force, squeezing the material through the die. The material then undergoes an instant release of pressure, which forms a porous, expanded structure. Meanwhile, the high-temperature steam kills pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella. This process meets hygiene and safety requirements for pet food and aquatic feed.

Automatic dryer:

The moisture content of the material is controlled within the target range to prevent feed spoilage or caking. Additionally, high-temperature drying (80–150 °C) eliminates microorganisms such as Salmonella, meeting hygiene standards for the food and pharmaceutical industries. We use a modular combined drying system suitable for continuous, large-scale production, enhancing production efficiency.

Pneumatic conveyor:

Compressed air or vacuum generates airflow in the pipeline, allowing fish feed particles—such as expanded pellets or powders—to move through a sealed environment. This prevents contamination from external moisture or dust and ensures feed hygiene and safety.

Drum Seasoning Machine:

The rotating drum causes the feed pellets to tumble. This motion allows oils (0.5–1.5%), attractants (such as fish solubles), vitamins, and other liquid or powdered flavorings to adhere uniformly to the pellet surface. As a result, the feed palatability is enhanced. A protective layer (such as a starch–oil mixture) forms on the pellet surface, reducing moisture absorption and clumping.

Cooling tower:

It cools the high-temperature (80–100°C) feed pellets after extrusion to room temperature (±5°C), preventing fat oxidation and microbial growth. Forced convection removes moisture from the pellet surface (reducing moisture content by 3–5%) to prevent clumping and mold growth. Uniform cooling reduces pellet cracking caused by thermal stress, maintaining the density of both floating and sinking feed.

Granule Vibrating Screen:

We use multi-layer screens to grade fish feed pellets by size and separate them from fines. This ensures the final product meets aquaculture requirements. It also prevents large particles from clogging equipment and stops small particles from causing uneven nutrition.
