The front and rear lighting layout and bumper styling of the Model Y L remain consistent with the standard Model Y, but the rear half of the body has undergone structural adjustments. The Model Y L continues to feature a through-type daytime running light paired with split headlights. At the rear, the raised tail section creates a slimmer, taller appearance, further enhanced by a sportier rear spoiler. The taillights still use Tesla’s signature diffuse-through design. Despite the larger body, the drag coefficient is reduced to just 0.216 (compared with the Model Y’s 0.22), a remarkably low figure that ensures energy efficiency and long range.

The Model Y L offers six exterior paint options: Starry Grey, Pearl White, Glacier Blue, Stardust Black, Flame Red, and a new exclusive Starlight Gold.

In terms of size, the Model Y L measures 4,976 × 1,920 × 1,668 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. Compared with the Model Y (4,797 × 1,920 × 1,624 mm, wheelbase 2,890 mm), the Model Y L is 179 mm longer, 44 mm taller, and has a 150 mm longer wheelbase, while width remains unchanged. These adjustments significantly improve cabin space. The new model also features redesigned 19-inch wheels and adopts a staggered tire setup—255 mm at the front and 275 mm at the rear (compared with the Model Y’s uniform 255 mm tires)—increasing rear grip, boosting lateral stability, and improving high-speed handling, reflecting Tesla’s focus on both safety and driving pleasure.

The Model Y L retains the minimalist interior design of the Model Y, with ambient wraparound lighting and refined materials that enhance the premium feel. Two interior color options are available: dark and light gray. The central touchscreen has been upgraded from 15.4 inches to 16 inches, with resolution improved by about 30%, delivering a sharper viewing experience for in-car entertainment. The infotainment system continues to use an AMD Ryzen processor. The front wireless charging pad has also been upgraded, now supporting 50W + 30W simultaneous wireless fast charging with active cooling.

The audio system has been enhanced as well, increasing from 16 to 19 speakers, including a subwoofer, a center console speaker, and two overhead speakers, ensuring precise sound staging for every seat. Tesla also reports that wind, road, and tire noise have been significantly reduced, making the Model Y L one of the quietest domestically produced vehicles. This improvement is achieved through acoustic glass, upgraded suspension, and noise-reducing tires.

The second row continues to feature an 8-inch display, allowing passengers to watch movies and access other functions. Each seat in the second and third rows has its own charging port. In addition to the electric air vents for the first and second rows, the new model adds side air vents for the second and third rows. Tesla has also optimized the thermal management system, improving cooling efficiency by 15%, reducing energy consumption by 20%, and enabling intelligent airflow distribution across all three rows.

Model Y L Seating

The highlight of the Model Y L is its six-seat layout in a 2+2+2 configuration. Beyond simply adding more seats, Tesla has introduced all-new seating designs. The front seats now feature a sportier look, adjustable headrests and leg supports, and heating and ventilation functions. The second row consists of two independent seats with electric adjustment, power lift armrests, and a maximum recline of 125 degrees, all controllable via buttons or the screen. The third-row seats offer electric backrest adjustment, heating, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Both the second and third rows can be electrically folded to expand cargo space.

On the safety front, the Model Y L is equipped with airbags for all three rows. To counter the effects of the longer body, Tesla reinforced the underbody with additional crossbeams, improving side-impact protection. Overall body rigidity has been increased by more than 10%, further enhancing safety performance.

Larger Battery- Strong Performance

The Model Y L comes with a larger battery pack, increased from 78.4 kWh to 82 kWh, delivering a range of 751 km—nearly identical to the Long Range AWD version (750 km). It retains a dual-motor setup with a front asynchronous induction motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, with slightly higher output than the Model Y. The front motor produces 142 kW, the rear 198 kW, for a combined total of 340 kW (compared with 331 kW on the Model Y). Despite the larger size, curb weight has only risen slightly to 2,088 kg. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds, just 0.2 seconds slower than the Long Range AWD Model Y. Energy consumption is excellent at 12.8 kWh/100 km, only marginally higher than the Model Y. Top speed remains 201 km/h, with a maximum charging rate of 250 kW.

Chassis and Driving Dynamics

The Model Y L uses the same suspension layout as the Model Y—front double wishbone and rear multi-link—but now features CDC continuously variable damping shock absorbers, previously unavailable on the Model Y. This system filters out road imperfections more effectively and provides better support during high-speed driving.

Driver assistance hardware remains unchanged, featuring the AI 4 chip with 720 TOPS of computing power and eight cameras.
