Q690 High Yield High Strength Steel Plate

Steel plates made of Q690 material have high yield and tensile strength and are widely used in coal mine machinery and engineering machinery, such as hydraulic support, port cranes, flatbed trucks, and so on.

What is Q690 steel?

Q690 steel and material Q690M is a Chinese GB standard high strength low alloy structural steel and is divided into 3 quality grades: Q690C, Q690D and Q690E “Q” means yield strength, “690” refers to 690 Mpa, Tensile strength is 770-940 Mpa, “M” is the abbreviation of “TMCP” (thermal mechanical control processing).

Q690 steel is a high-strength structural steel that offers excellent performance in various applications. It belongs to the family of Chinese standard GB/T 1591-2008 steels and has a minimum yield strength of 690 MPa.

The high-strength characteristics of Q690 steel make it well-suited for load-bearing structures, such as bridges, buildings, and heavy machinery. Its superior strength-to-weight ratio allows for the design of lighter and more efficient structures while maintaining structural integrity.

Q690 steel exhibits good toughness, ductility, and weldability, enabling ease of fabrication and construction. It also possesses excellent resistance to fatigue, corrosion, and impact, making it suitable for demanding environments and harsh weather conditions.

Q690 series steel grades are Q690C, Q690D, Q690E, and Q690F; the equal EN standard steel grades are S690Q, S690QL, and S690QL1.

Q690 Plates Application

Steel plates made of Q690 material have high yield and tensile strength and are widely used in coal mine machinery and engineering machinery, such as hydraulic support, port cranes, flatbed trucks, and so on.

Q690 carbon steel plates find their applications in various demanding industries:

  • Structural Engineering: Used for making high-load-bearing components in buildings, bridges, and other large-scale structures where weight reduction is critical.
  • Heavy Machinery: Components like crane booms, excavator arms, lifting equipment, and other load-bearing parts in heavy machinery benefit from the high strength-to-weight ratio of Q690 steel.
  • Pressure Vessels: For manufacturing thick-walled pressure vessels and storage tanks that require high strength and durability.
  • Offshore Platforms: In offshore oil and gas platforms, Q690 steel plates are used for constructing jackets, decks, and other critical load-bearing structures that need to withstand harsh marine environments and heavy loads.
  • Wind Turbine Towers: To construct wind turbine towers, where high strength and lightweight materials are essential for efficient energy production.
