On 26 June, Xiaomi’s first SUV, the Xiaomi YU7 (configuration | price inquiry), officially went on sale.

Xiaomi Automobile positions the YU7, its first SUV model, as a luxury, high-performance SUV. Even the standard version offers high-end features, including double-layer soundproof glass, an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, a 235 kW V6s Plus motor, a 96.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a range of 835 km, continuously variable damping suspension, lidar, an NVIDIA Thor 700 TOPS intelligent driving chip, and Xiaomi’s Sky Screen panoramic display.

The prices for the different versions are as follows:

Ultra -Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Edition: 253,500 RMB;

Pro Ultra -Long Range All-Wheel Drive Edition: 279,900 RMB;

Max Ultra -Long Range High-Performance All-Wheel Drive Edition: 329,900 RMB.

Additionally, the Max version comes standard with an intelligent dimming sunroof. It features the latest generation of EC dimming glass. This glass effectively blocks ultraviolet and infrared rays, with a maximum light-blocking rate of 99.85%.

For voice interaction, the familiar Xiaoai Assistant supports activation from outside the vehicle. The exterior is equipped with eight microphones and one speaker. This enables easy voice control of the vehicle from any angle. It also ensures smooth communication with the Xiaoai Assistant.

In terms of color options, the Xiaomi YU7 offers nine exterior colors. There are three free options: Titanium Metal, Emerald Green, and Lava Orange. There are also six paid options, such as Cambrian Grey and Golden Pink. The interior offers four choices. Three are free: Turquoise Grey, Iris Purple, and Twilight Blue. One paid option, Coral Orange, requires an additional payment of 3,000 yuan.

Advanced driving and handling: peak performance, extended range, and premium comfort

Additionally, to help users avoid motion sickness, Xiaomi has equipped the vehicle with a motion sickness relief mode, which reduces incidence by 51% and delays onset by 16%. Through optimizations such as smooth acceleration, gentle deceleration, and stable cornering, the vehicle maintains stability on bumpy roads, significantly reducing the “boat-like” sensation.

In terms of safety performance, it adopts an armoured cage-style steel–aluminium hybrid body, using 2200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel to construct an embedded roll cage and four-door collision beams. The design also prioritizes protecting female occupants in all seating positions under all driving conditions, and includes battery protection that complies with the new national standards for 2025.

In terms of intelligent driving assistance, Xiaomi equips the entire series with the 10-million-clip version of its end-to-end driving assistance system. This system features linear acceleration and deceleration control as well as precise obstacle recognition. Xiaomi also plans to upgrade to the XLA large model in the second half of this year.

The new vehicle has generated remarkable pre-order enthusiasm. More than 200,000 units were reserved in just three minutes. The total climbed to 289,000 within one hour. Lei Jun has openly stated that the Model Y’s sales figures are the target, directly challenging Tesla. Whether the YU7 can surpass the popular Model Y SUV remains to be seen.
