Leapmotor D19 was officially launched on the evening of April 16th. Since its global debut last October, this flagship SUV, hailed by Leapmotor as “the culmination of ten years of technology”, has been in preheating for a full six months. Previously, it was widely speculated that its starting price would be around 250,000 yuan. However, Leapmotor once again adhered to its cost-effective strategy, with a price range of 219,800 yuan to 269,800 yuan, directly lowering the threshold for a full-size flagship SUV beyond everyone’s expectations.

In the current auto market, most models available at this price range are mid-size or large mid-size SUVs from other new energy brands. To get a genuine full-size large SUV, the threshold is basically above 300,000 yuan, or even 350,000 yuan.

Leapmotor D19, however, directly brings its full-size body — 5252mm in length and 3110mm in wheelbase — into a lower price segment. From a product perspective alone, it has broken away from the logic of competition in the same price range.

For today’s flagship SUVs, “refrigerator, large screen and comfortable seats” are just basic configurations. The cockpit of Leapmotor D19 is fully equipped with a 60-inch AR-HUD, a 17.3-inch central control screen, a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, semi-aniline top-layer leather seats, 120° true zero-gravity seats, and more. It not only maximizes these configurations but also adds many “extra features”.

For other extended-range models, a pure electric range of 300 kilometers is considered quite excellent. Leapmotor D19 is equipped with a large 80.3kWh battery, with a CLTC pure electric range of 500 kilometers directly. This means that you can completely use it as a pure electric vehicle for daily commuting, and there is no pressure to charge it once a week; during long-distance self-driving trips on holidays, you don’t have to worry about finding charging piles either.

The pure electric version adopts a 1000V high-voltage platform and is equipped with 115kWh CATL super hybrid battery cells, with a CLTC pure electric range of 720 kilometers; the top-of-the-line three-motor four-wheel drive version has a combined power of up to 540kW, and the 0-100km/h acceleration time is only 3.94 seconds.

In addition, lidar and high-level intelligent driving hardware, which are only available in the top configurations of other brands, are standard across the entire series of Leapmotor D19; even the dual-chamber closed air suspension + CDC shock absorber, which is only found in million-level luxury cars, also appears on this car priced at over 200,000 yuan.

What’s more interesting is that it even takes into account the niche scenario of plateau self-driving, directly providing a vehicle-grade forest oxygen cabin. This move fully understands users’ needs.

From the perspective of product strength alone, compared with flagship models priced at over 400,000 yuan such as Li L9 and AITO M9, Leapmotor D19 is not inferior in core configurations, but its price is nearly half lower. It achieves dimensionality reduction strike through differentiated competition.
