What is EN 10028-3 P355NL1 Carbon Steel ?

EN 10028 3 P355NL1 carbon steel plate is more commonly known as P355NL1 boiler plate or P355NL1 vessel plate, as P355NL1 carbon steel plate is widely used in the fabrication of pressure vessels and boilers. P355NL1 steel is characterised by good weldability and high resistance to brittle cracking. These types are used above all for manufacturing vessels for pressurised gas (LPG, butane and propane tanks), pressure vessels, parts for steam boilers, pressure piping, compressors, etc. Their most widespread use is in application environments lower than -20º.

P355NL1 steel is supplied in the normalised condition. The normalising temperature is 900 – 950 ºC, and it must be left in the furnace after temperature equalising for approximately 1 minute per millimetre of thickness of the plate. As a result, it offers good cold-forming and hot-forming properties without negatively affecting the material properties.

Properties of the P355NL1 Plates

The P355NL PLATE no doubt is having many good properties to offer that has made it be very much high in demand among the buyers. Those are high tensile strength, good dimensional accuracy, excellent surface finishes, durability, long-lasting, and flexibility, easy to use and low maintenance. Also, it is having very well resistant to general corrosion, oxidation, pitting, stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion resistant.

Testing conducted on the plates

There are many testing the industry is necessarily conducting in order to check how good is the quality of plates production. The testing is assuring that no poor quality or faulty plates are delivered to the respective buyers. The tests are PMI test, IGC test, macro, and micro test, pitting resistance test, chemical analysis, mechanical test, flattening test and flaring test etc. The tests conducted are by the experts having good knowledge of how effective testing is done and by using advanced machinery and tools.

MTC

The mill or manufacturer test certification provided to the potential buyers are as per EN 10204/3.1B. The test certifications including lab test report, third-party test report, radiography test report and a buyers test report is provided to buyers.
